well i have been asked by several people how i do it so i thought i'd share the basic process here. i have lots of examples of my napkin/mod podging work in my new book [Heart of Design] which has been released by pride publishing AND also have a blue bazaar online technique class coming up using several of my napkin/mod podge ideas, but until then... here's some tips...
1] napkins are normally 3 or 4 ply. take away all the ply so you are left only with the top decorated ply.
2] you can apply this with mod podge to ANY surface.
3] coat your surface with a thin layer of mod podge. you will have to work quickly so it doesn't dry.
4] lay the napkin over the surface & gently press down & smooth - dont worry there will ALWAYS be lots of lumps and creases - this adds to the charm! just smooth over gently as much as you can.
5] to finish, apply another thin layer of mod podge over the napkin ensuring all of it is covered [thin coverage - not thick & gluggy] and then let dry! Done!!
If you added napkins to a cardstock/ paper or transparency surface, you can then use to overlay on layouts or cut out sections to decorate [eg. butterflies etc.]
enjoy!
just email me if you need any extra help
