which is now spilling into various piles on the art desk, next to the bed & into various handbags [in the hope of being read when i am out doing something and just happen to get 5 spare minutes....]
anyway, look what arrived in my post box! they both look fantastic.
i managed a quick flick through but i want to fully absorb them on our trip to melbourne. i need something to read. well i say that, but will i actually read them when my precious is in icu? doubt it, but i will take them anyway. perhaps on the plane.
anyway, kelly rae uses paper patchwork for her backgrounds?!?!!!! well i had no idea, they are certainly disguised under those adorable painted ladies. a woman after my own heart, little paper pieces, love love love! can't wait to read this one and teach myself how to paint a bit better. i'm crap at it so really looking forward to going on a journey [taking flight] and learning some new skills.
sharing your story is all about mini albums. love love love mini albums! lots of great looking ones particularly em falconbridges gift art journal - wowee! scraps, more scraps! heaven. love its wooly cover and love the masking on the scraps. great idea. i don't really 'do' masks [unless i am required to] but of course i have all of them so good excuse to start off some kind of backdrop. just get the page going! the tags look great too.
life in the 'm' house over the weekend...
had amelia & chelsea christened on the weekend. we were actually supposed to fly out on monday to melbourne for chelsea's heart surgery but we didn't end up going. i had booked the christening weeks before and this last sunday was the only available date. i took it even though i figured it would be chaos having a christening on the sunday, with an after party, then flying the family out the next day. of course i needed to make sure i had THE person upstairs on our side before we took off! anyway, the surgery has been bumped. we'll be here for a bit longer.
i have yet to do my official christening portraits of the girls but here are some random pics of the day. amelia wore the tradtional "whelan" gown which was made for me & my 3 siblings and chelsea wore the traditional "mason" gown which was made for jeff and his 9 siblings. so lucky both families had a family gown!
jeff & amelia, me & chelsea. bit blurry, should have given my sister the point & shoot [ha ha jane!]
georgia who seems to be going through a stage of not wanting her photo taken, grrrrr [L] and charlotte [R]
amelia who wants to play i think?!
chelsea
my cheeky girls at their 'after party', amelia [L] & chelsea [R]
the christening cake made by my bud, angela. i did the cake name decorations, just made from rub-ons & cardstock so i could easily pull off and keep in their keepsake boxes.
great day and i'm a little bit pleased we didn't have to fly out monday afterall. it has somehow relieved the pressure that was building [for me] at a furious rate. i actually feel quite calm and quietly confident about it all. i'll no doubt fall apart when i have to hand her over to the surgeon but for now, i'm optimistic and visualizing the future, a great future...
off to scrapbook!
