Way back in 1997, I married this 14 year old. I mean 26 year old.
He was such a cute nice boy. Polite, caring, always so thoughtful. A great planner, good with kids, responsible, very funny & stable. I knew he was a keeper way back then.
Today he's 40!
I don't often write about Jeff on my blog as he doesn't like attention. He is happy to go on about his life anonymously. And I am happy to respect his privacy. But today I want to celebrate him and give a one off overview on the man behind this blogging woman.
He's my everything, my best friend and the love of my life. He still makes me laugh today as much as he did way back then. He has killer eyes and a fabulous dimple. And he's tall, I love that. I also love his little twisty eye teeth. I have a thing for teeth with character.
There's not too many blokes that I have come across that compare to my Jeff. I feel very lucky to have him in my life.
He is a fabulous partner. He is our chief planner-er of holidays, the primary driver, the chief money watcher-er. He likes to schedule - can you believe that? Fabulous!
He does all our washing & hanging out & bringing in. May I remind you we have 5 children, 6 and under. That is some washing that gets put through the machine. I know, I put it away! Well, I put it away eventually. He detests using the dryer too, easily less than a dozen times a year. He's always keeping an eye on the weather and planning.
He is very hands on with the kids. He does the breakfast shift in our house so that I can clear the decks at home, set up for the day & then get ready for the gym. He does his share of school drop offs.
He will always carry the kids when they are struggling.
He makes us all laugh. He dances terribly, has not a musical bone in his body but grooves anyway just to make us all laugh & to make the kids feel special, waltzing them around the house.
He smooches us all.
He makes our spaghetti bolognese sauce from scratch.
He has done the waterbaby swimming lessons with all 5 kids, still swimming with Lachy...
He has been chief bottle steriliser for 6 years!
He's done thousands of baby feeds through the night and day to help me out.
He's the chief recycler, bottle to the depot man, bin emptier & bin putter-outer-er on the street guy. He is not handyman handy but gets the tools & drills out anyway and does whatever I ask him to....
He is the bike builder at Christmas, the burglar chaser-er down the street in his jocks man and the one most addicted to sweet lollies in our house.
He is a fabulous provider & a hard worker. He is honest, trustworthy & dependable.
He looks after all the kids whenever I am at the gym, going shopping, have appointments or in hospital popping out more kids all without help. He is so capable he can feed them all, bath or shower them all, comb the girls hair, get them all dressed, load them all into the car and bring them into hospital to meet the latest addition. He does it all - without help.
He introduces the kids to their new siblings as I lie in my hospital bed still a bit drugged & woozy.
He has been by my side at all the births and been to almost every ultrasound I've had during my pregnancies.
He loves trains. Fave colour is green, like me. Port Power fan [errgghhhhh]. Loves sport. Loves TV. Will come with me to see the odd romantic comedy. Loves Drew Barrymore.
He loves Indian curries, Mexican food and loves good beef fillet, roast potatoes and loves when I cook him bacon & eggs, which of course he got today.
Here's a few pics I found just going through the family folder....
Yep, this cute little boy is now an amazing family man!
Happy birthday babe, love you for the next 40 + more....
