Last week, Heartkids SA was part of an event for the Restaurant & Catering Awards which was held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Approx 1200 people from the industry attended. Apparently each year Channel 9 Telethon selects a number of charities to provide silent auction items for the night. HeartKids SA was lucky to be selected this year. All proceeds from the highest bid go to the charity who provided the item.
Background: You can see our little heartkid Chelsea is one of the faces on Heartkids Australia's page promoting Cuppa For Heartkids right now. See her beaming smile as she proudly shows off her zipper at 9months after her second open heart surgery. She's now 3 and running around like you wouldn't believe. Smiley, cheeky & naughty. Love love love her spirit!
And for new visitors to my blog, you can read her humble beginnings on Heartkids Australia website, 3rd story down. Yes she's a twin. No, her twin Mimi does not have CHD.
So anyway, I donated a gift voucher for a 30x30cm or 20x40cm original artwork for the event and then have been madly biting finger nails waiting patiently in anticipation of the auction result!
Well as it turned I needn't be the nervous Nellie that I am. My artwork voucher raised $210! The man that won the auction got in touch with me very quickly to organise a commission piece to be made for his wife's birthday. How sweet is that? He wants a babushka family portrait. I am having fun designing it with the mix of males & females!
I will definitely share once its all done.
So, guess what? I will be soon offering gift vouchers in my online shop. Once I have a spare minute, I will make them available so you can just buy a voucher & it will be mailed to you or to someone as a gift with your special greeting inside.
I will also advertise in shop for commission vacancies. I have 3 on the go currently so I will advertise spaces when available. Just want to make things easier for shop browsers who might be looking for gift options.
And by the way, the gift vouchers look all cute & pretty too. See?
