Guess what?
I've been doing a little loveLY making over the past week. I made some homemade rubber stamps out of regular erasers by carving into them. Nothing new here, this practice has been around for a long time. But since I was making them up anyway, I thought I'd share a little step by step for those that haven't done it before or who have young upcoming crafties that might like to give it a go. Cheap crafty fun! Yay!
So here is my very first attempt at making & editing a very dodgy video. I thought the music was quite apt. Chemical Heart by Grinspoon! hehe get it? Rubber = sort of chemically? And its a heart! Ok so my humour is a bit dodgy too!
Anyway enjoy, or have a laugh! I recommend you click to watch in full screen mode, its so tiny & fast.
But then come back of course to read the rest of my post!
So tomorrow is St Valentines Day...
Whilst I do think everyone should be loving & caring for their loved ones every day, its fun to get in the spirit of the day & do a teensy bit extra. Don't you think?
And this year I'm participating in a Valentines Blythe swap. My first. Exciting & stressful!
Here's my goodies all packaged up & hopefully they will be arriving at my swap partners house in the morning. I'll do a whole other post about the contents, maybe on Thursday? Something Blythe, something extra & something Valentine related!
For us at home:
For me, Valentines is not about getting a dozen red & paying a ridiculous $5 [or more] for a greeting card off the shelf for Jeff. Unless I have found something I would like to frame for my house, its been probably 20 years since I purchased a greeting card to gift. I always make a card or a tag to attach to presents. I do not ever begrudge receiving bought cards. Exceptionally grateful for someone to be thinking of me & their choices are always well thought out & so very me. But being a creative type, I feel its an insult to people if I don't make them something!
Anyway......
For me Valentines Day means that it would have been my grandmothers birthday. She would have been 104 this year. She passed away at age 96. A fabulous innings! An amazing woman.
For me Valentines Day is for a bit of extra loving with my Jeff, maybe a little gift exchange, maybe stealing some time alone, perhaps a little note, handmade card, letter..... definitely remembering to look each other in the eyes at some point & connecting as we frantically go about our day.
This year I'm hoping we can spend some time cuddling on the couch in the morning after school drop off & maybe watching a movie. And by cuddling I mean sitting on the same couch with 3 little ones jumping all over us. But still, together. Perhaps I will bake some cute cupcakes or something. Or we could splash out & have some morning tea out in the real world, like at a cafe or something! oooh!
This year I have written him a little love letter on homemade decorated paper, enclosed in a handmade envelope.
This year I've made little love notes for my kids & for the school girls, putting them in their lunch boxes along with a homemade heart shaped cookie or cupcake. For the 3 little ones, maybe we'll have a treasure hunt.
This year I hope Jeff buys me a new car. *kidding* I wish for nothing but an hour or two in the morning where we don't have to do ANYTHING.
Happy St Valentines Day for tomorrow!
