For as long as I can remember I've wanted a set of Le Creuset for my own kitchen. In the 20 years I've had a kitchen I've no doubt spent enough money on crappola saucepans & baking dishes to in fact buy a set of Le Creuset but obviously I didn't rate it high enough at the time, whenever I had money to buy a set, or even just a piece.
I did get a beautiful large Le Creuset mixing bowl as a wedding present from my Aunty which was the most favourite thing in my kitchen but sadly my husband dropped it & it broke last year. A totally depressing kitchen disaster.
So anyway, my mum collects it & I have adored it always. Rather than wait until the inheritence comes through - because I put my name on it years ago - in a funny joking way of course - but mum, I'd still love it LOL. And because my mum isn't going anywhere anytime soon [her mother lived until she was 96!] I decided today I might just go and do some investigating.
Right now we have no spare cents to our name whatsoever, but I didn't let that minor detail deter......
You see I was searching for some recipes online and I found the most beautiful one which I hope to share as soon as I have tested it out. It did require however, a serious looking stoneware kind of cooking pot thing, with lid. Shown on the blog, was the Le Creuset one above. I then felt a bit deflated knowing my Pyrex just wouldn't cut the mustard.
And of course if I were to try this recipe, I would really need the proper baking apparatus right? Yes.
Mission approaching...
Then it dawned on me that a while ago, Jeff and I were talking about our FlyBuys points. You see, we are religious about using our Flybuys card at Coles [and no this is NOT a sponsored post!] and we also use our AMEX which gives a better deal on top of that. 2 points for each dollar? Anyway, something like that. Over the years those points have been adding up to quite a hefty number. It costs alot of money to feed 7 people each week!
Ding ding!
Off to the Flybuys website I went and before I knew it, my humble search for a single Le Creuset pot, with lid, in red, had returned nil results.
However, the Le Creuset 5 piece starter set was there! And I had enough points!
Winner winer chicken dinner in any number of Le Creuset cooked ways!!!!!
I SMS's Jeff to run the idea past him. Poor darling has been working 10 hour days this whole long weekend. And he said......
'Sounds like a good idea.'
WOOOoooooooo!
Flybuys points redeemed. This little baby above, the whole dang set, is on its way to the Mason household.
The fact that it did take years to accumulate those points, is superfluous to me. Its no trouble flicking the card at the register and because we have done so, we now get to enjoy all this red loveliness for FREEEEEEEeeeee! How positively thrifty!
Are you in any rewards programs? Ever redeemed anything useful? Exciting? Fun?
