As a family, we've been waiting for a little summer weekend getaway since Christmas. We couldn't manage it over the summer holidays and Jeff has been working so hard almost every weekend since then. The weekend just gone we had booked my parents beach house for a little escape but again, Jeff was working. Whilst the kids and I have had nice weekends together at home, there hasn't been anything really exciting happening for our family fun Sundays.
As it happened, Jeff had a rostered day off yesterday, a Monday! So we made the decision to let the big girls have the day off school so we could spend the day together as a family. Very much needed. They were so excited! And our school was supportive too.
We decided we would head up to Gumeracha in the Adelaide hills and visit the Big Rocking Horse. We normally try to do that each year. Its always fun for the kids. You can climb the rocking horse, go for a little bush walk around the park and feed the animals followed by a picnic lunch.
These alpacas were quite the cheeky pair. The black one actually bit Jeffs arm because he/she was so impatient waiting for food! Eeek! And those sheep, followed us around the entire park, absolute pigs they were! Ha!
The wallabies were the most gentle & easiest for the kids to feed & we spent lots of time with them.
We had such a lovely day & it was fabulous weather too. If you are ever in Adelaide & looking for things to do, its a lovely place to take the kids and only an hour from the city.
I'm already counting down the weeks until school holidays now. Tomorrow we will be exactly half way through term! Exciting! Must get my holiday planning in order and think of some new things to do.
Do you have any ideas for me?
If you've been or live in Adelaide, what is your favourite thing to do?
