Hello! I've been working away on lots of arty & illustrative pieces this year, some painted, some digital, some a mix of both. Some I can share & others I can't because I have made my very first lot of submissions to potential clients as part of studies I've been doing. Yes, nervous. But I'm ok & wearing thick skin because I may need to encounter 1000 rejections before I get even one. And thats ok. I'm determined to get there.
In the meantime thought I'd share my newest verions of my Adelaide map. You might remember seeing my original version [below] that I did in my MATS course with Lilla Rogers Studio School last year?
Through the creative grapevine I heard of an international map competition through They Draw & Travel website. A fabulous wesbite full of colourful illustrated maps! So I submitted it and although I didn't win, I did get an honourable mention. Not bad for my first submission! Very reassuring I must say.
For the competition the map had to fit certain dimensions so I had to rework my map to fit. It was a long skinny landscape so I added extra north & south regions to my map and fitted in Kangaroo Island on the bottom too. I absolutely love making maps & enjoyed reworking it as much as I did creating the original version. Here is the new version below.
You can buy my original map in my ETSY shop and I also offer custom services so that you can have your house or business included within the illustration. And if the A3 map size is too large, I am more than happy to make smaller maps to fit smaller Ikea frames. These could make novel gifts for friends & visitors new to Adelaide to fondly remember their trip! Recently, I had some printed onto stretched canvas [on request] for customers too & they came up beautifully.
Oh and if you are in Adelaide, you can now also buy my maps at:
