Arty Things: Taking a leap...

So this year I'm leaping forward, diving into arty things in a bigger way.  Immersing myself.

I'm currently preparing this new work above [& below] for the printer & I'll have some originals & new prints shop soon. In the meantime you can still grab some of my older work on SALE in store now. 50% off.  

I'm also jumping into a little study period right now so I aim to be online alot less. Concentrating on learning & focussing on my dreams. I still want to share as much as I can about my journey through this little art education though, so it'll be less words [I'm not sure that is even POSSIBLE for a person like me] and more pictures.  I hope you enjoy reading/watching along as I let my work evolve, explore new territory & I soak up arty connections with others.

To get ready for the year ahead & get my mind focussed [because I tend to mull over things for way to long, did you notice?] I downloaded a great little resource that I wanted to share with you. Its Jessica Swift's Goal & Intention kit.  Its particularly great for creative types wanting to explore, get focussed & get serious about the year ahead.  You can see her blog here & download the kit through her ETSY here. I've just listed this piece in my ETSY store HERE.

Its a mixed media collage painting on canvas sheet so you display it in a frame.  I quite like working on canvas sheet because its thin enough to push through my sewing machine and get some lovely stitching detail which this piece has.

I've named this piece, "Spinning Cloud."

Arty Things: Cosy Cushions

With the big studio move this year its taken me a long time to make peace/feel comfortable/feel secure/feel at home/feel creative in my painting studio. I love it. I'm itching to paint. I miss it.  There's a gazillion ideas busting out into my scribble books. But I haven't made any real progress yet.

I've dabbled. I've had to work on some committed projects but apart from that I've mostly been using the space to create with the kids or to make birthday cards for the huge number of birthdays we have to celebrate on our calendar.

This is all in the little cracks of spare time. I have not yet committed my full evenings [post little ones bedtime] like I used to do, to work in that space.  For starters its been too cold this past winter. And although I don't like hot days so much, they sure are perfect for evening creating benders.  I am super looking forward to those.  And Jeff and I are working out some plans so that he can be near me when I spend evenings creating.  Because well, I'm a big scaredy cat even in my home. Especially at night. Because of this.

So anyway, I have instead, because I need to create to keep sane, been sewing a bit lately!

Its been easy to do that on weekend days as the kids run around playing and visit me every so often. Normally its on a day where Jeff is watching football so everyone is content doing their own thing.

Whilst I was making some birthday presents, I managed to also get some more cosy cushions done for my shop. Some of these below are now sold or were ordered especially but I will have 3 going to shop hopefully this week!

 

They are all made with both vintage fabrics, fabrics from my personal collection & other upcycled pieces too.

This one above was made for my cousin who recently turned 18. It contains part of her grandmothers vintage lace handkerchief. Her Grandmother passed away only in the last few weeks at the age of 99 [!], within the same week of Victoria turning 18. Amazing coinciding milestones so I thought it was a nice touch to include the beautiful lace handkerchief.

So there you go, a little of what I have been working on lately. I have created two other new things also. I'm excited about them! But they are drying on the line & its too late to photograph. So I'll tell you about them very soon.

SOLD: Blythe!

Edited:  Factory doll with black hair option SOLD.  

I have this cute little blonde looking for a new home at the moment.

The doll is a hybrid Blythe  - beautiful Ice Rune scalp + factory head & body. I purchased Ice Rune new NRFB & bought a factory doll with blue hair [the blue hair was the part I was needing to make a different hybrid], from a another Blythe collector in Adelaide just a fortnight ago.

Apart from taking the blue scalp off and installing the Ice Rune scalp, no other custom work has been doen to this doll.  I dressed her for these photos only. She has not been handled or played with.  She has been kept away from children in a bookcase, in a smoke & pet free home.  

Arty Things: Original painted collage babushka

I've uploaded a new babushka original painted collage into my ETSY shop.  I loved doing this doll. I ordered in vintage decorating decals to incorporate into my artwork and this is the first time I've used them. Its the floral detail in the corner & on the apron.  So this work is a little unique.
